Video Marketing Mistakes to Avoid
After years in the industry I’ve seen, experienced and learnt from many video marketing mistakes and in today’s video I’m going to share with you the top 3 that I see people making all the time when creating video content.
But most importantly, I’m going to share some simple techniques which will stop you making them when creating your own video content.
- Hard Selling
No one wants to be to sold so make sure your content is always engaging, informative and adds value for your audience.
Here at The Vlog School we tell people just starting out on their video journey that a great video starting point is to answer a frequently asked question. Show your expertise and industry knowledge by talking about what you know best – your industry and your business.
- Making the video too long
Attention span from customers are getting shorter and shorter. Even if you have enough content to fill a 5 or 10 minute video, make sure to build your audience’s expectations and start small.
To build their loyalty and your viewing figures create short, regular pieces of video content and release them frequently to a schedule – just like we do here with our Wednesday videos.
Over time your audience will become engaged enough to watch lengthier video content from you.
- Under Utilising Social Media
This is the most common, and ultimately the most damaging mistake.
Be sure to upload your video to either YouTube or Vimeo in order to embed videos onto your website, and always add an SEO friendly title and description to help with organic reach.
And when uploading to Facebook, Instagram or Twitter always upload your video content natively.
Oh, and don’t forget to tag any featured customers / brands where you can – doing this will prompt them to like and share your content too.
If this video has proved helpful in your video journey please show some love by sharing it across your network or hitting the subscribe button here.
And as always, if you have question you’d like me to answer simply drop your question, name and business into the comment box below and I’ll answer it in one of our upcoming video blogs.
Tune in next Wednesday for another vlog from The Vlog School!
